What does it
take to succeed after high school?
- Maturity:
In appearance, thoughts and abilities (attention to detail). Ability
to get along with co-workers and supervisors.
- Enthusiasm:
Interest in what you do. Pride must be taken in the work that is completed.
- Reliability:
Showing up on time, ready to work.
- Dependability:
Take responsibility for what they accomplish and how it is done.
- Commitment:
To start a project, work diligently, and complete each task.
- Creativity:
DonŐt be afraid to show individualism.
- Listening
Skills: Be ready to learn and retain information. (Write information
down; carry a logbook; take notes.)
- Communication
Skills: The ability to organize thoughts and present them in a
profes- sional manner. The ability to work within a group of peers
to complete a job.
- Good Spelling/Handwriting:
These skills are necessary in any profession.
- Patience:
DonŐt rush into doing things incorrectly. Investigate your problem
- solve it correctly.
- Concentration:
The greater the amount of concentrated effort equals less time spent
and a higher quality product.
- Problem Solving
Skills:
Obtain and evaluate information to determine solutions to problems.
- Leadership
Skills: Ability to define goals and objectives. Communicate expectations
of others to achieve desired results. Forget the words "I donŐt
know". Learn the words "I can find out".
- Technology:
Ability to use and understand technology such as computers, etc.
We
need interested young people with open minds.
